NOT COMPATIBLE WITH REDSHIFT! Turn it off completely, not just disable.

Easiest way:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:apandada1/brightness-controller
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install brightness-controller-simple

Not easiest way:

xrandr -q | grep " connected"
xrandr --output HDMI-0 --brightness 0.5
